Workbook V
| |
Workbook V is
structured around American Ballet, and exposes the student to a total of 10 classic
ballets from a historical perspective. The ballets include Serenade,
Billy the Kid, Rodeo, Pillar of Fire, Fancy Free, Fall
River Legend, Stars and Stripes, Astarte, Trinity, and Push
Comes to Shove.
This fifth workbook also
continues the education of the student in the leading personalities in ballet, this time
introducing American ballet greats. It includes biographies on George Balanchine, Maria
Tallchief, Agnes de Mille, Ruth Page, Jerome Robbins, The Christensen Brothers (Willam,
Harold, and Lew), Arthur Mitchell, Robert Joffrey, Gerald Arpino, and Augusta Maywood.
The history chronicles
the growth of ballet in America and the influence of American dance, while the anatomy
section covers muscle groups, joints, the spine, and basic nutrition.
Ballet theory reviews
the five positions of the feet, port de bras, positions of the body, and adds the seven
movements of dance, the pointe shoe, breathing, and more.
As with the other workbooks,
vocabulary continues to be given attention. Workbook V reinforces the
words found in Workbooks III and IV and adds new ones throughout the lessons. |
